Should SEA change the date of our July rodeo?

    The board is seeking input from our contestants on whether or not SEA should change the date of our July rodeo. Currently, this rodeo is held during Soldotna Progress Days, the 4th weekend in July. This year that weekend is July 24-26, 2026.

    Why change the date:  Progress Days has gotten busier in recent years, causing our rodeo shows to overlap with other events (parade, community events, etc.). This makes it hard for contestants to attend community events, and means spectators also have to choose between events.

    Why keep the date: this rodeo has always been a historical part of Soldotna Progress Days, going back to the 1960's. Additionally, it is always our most attended rodeo, with ticket sales bringing in 20% - 40% more revenue than our other rodeos.
